Algar Waterfalls

A little bit off the coast, more or less 10km from Altea and about 15km from Benidorm you will find the village of Callosa de'n Sarria. Close to that is the waterfall of Algar.
The Fuentes del Algar should be very interesting for you to visit while you are around the area. Not only do they have normal days at the beach, but they also show you a different, quiet and even cool Spain.
The Algar waterfall is more than just a waterfall, the riverside is a very nice area with paths along various waterfalls and pools. You might have experienced different kinds of showers at the different water parks around, but its totally different compared to swimming or diving into an ice cold river on a very hot summer day.
Driving to Algar from Altea or Calpe drive the N-332 road to Urbanizacion Sierra Altea, then take the CV-755 which gets you to Callosa d'En Sarria (Just 2 minutes from the waterfall). If you come from Benidorm take the CV-715 via La Nucia and Polop which will get you directly to the place.
Parking isn't a problem. There are alot of parking lots when you enter Algar. There are 2 different entrances to the waterfall. One at the center of the village and one at the very end. You can go through the parking grounds at the second entrance.
Entrance fee or admission fee is around 3 Euros. Defenetly worth it. The place is well maintained and there are even life guards are on duty.
Clothing my advice would be to take your bathing suit and good shoes would be useful, because the river is full of stones.
Outside the waterfall area at the second entrance area, is a picnic and barbecue area. Well maintained with a little camping ground. At the second entrance there are two museums located. The Environment Museum and the Water Museum. Together with a path through a garden of plants, the day should be nice and, recharging some energy for the often stressed tourists of the Costa Blanca.
